{my first movie review}

Well – since I got a few comments saying they’d enjoy hearing what movies we’ve been enjoying I decided I’d start. (thanks to my pal Molly for the inspiration on making my “review” frame) My reviews are going have a possible 5 stars. And just so you know a little about the “reviewer” (me), I studied film a lot in college (my major was Costume Design for Film), BUT I’m not a movie snob, nor am I horrible picky. I’m pretty easy to please.

First up – one of our Netflix movies. “The Chronicals of Narnia: Prince Caspian”. And I give it . . .

Major disappointment. I absolutely LOVED “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. I still love it. Heck – I could watch it right now! So, I had high hopes for this next one in the series. But for some reason we just missed seeing it in the theaters. Thank goodness for that, because it was really lame. SOOOOO LONG. Really slow and boring. The storyline wasn’t captivating at all. There were a few moments when I felt something emotional – but it was just because of the Christian message behind the story. Otherwise – it was a snooze-fest.  Plus, the ending is STUPID. I’m not surprised Disney opted out of making more of them.  I’d say skip it.

And as to not leave it on such a downer review, here is one we Tivoed and watched the other night. “Little Miss Sunsine”. And I give it . . .

We don’t see rated R movies, so we had to wait to catch this one once it was edited for TV. You know it won all sorts of awards and was so well reviewed, so I expected it to be good. It was GREAT. I don’t think I’ll be giving out 5 star ratings all that often, but this one totally deserved it.  It is the perfect mixture of funny, touching, sad, and joyful. Every actor in it was incredible. ALL of them. It was like a breath of fresh air after watching the previous movie. After it was over Josh said, “See – you don’t need three hours of special effects, fancy scores, and all that to make a great movie”. I TOTALLY agree. It was an incredible movie. I know the language was harsh – so I personally wouldn’t recommend seeing the R version, but record it the next time its on TV and ENJOY!!

Ok – I’ll wrap up this post with a few scrapbook pages I’ve been working on.

Minna (MiraDesigns) came out with some really cute new alphas today. I used one of them called “Metal Wire Alpha” in this page. I dug out these older photos from Father’s Day 2006.

These pictures are from the birthday party we had for the twins in Oct. ’07. (Am I the only one who scraps COMPLETELY out of order?!)

This is a page I created with pics from this Christmas morning and an AWESOME template I got from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

And this is what I did for the Speed Scrap last night (again, pics from this Christmas morning). It was a really fun one. I’m glad I was able to do it! I can’t wait for tomorrow afternoon‘s Speed Scrap too!

And a lot of people have been asking me “What are “dysons?” haha.  Dysons are these AMAZING brand of vacuums. We have the full size upright Dyson & we (my brothers and I) got these little hand-held versions from Santa this Christmas. We were all really excited! Great gift. Thanks Santa!

Alrighty – that is enough from me. Time for bed I think! See ya later.

  1. I love your new movie reviews! I have wanted to see LMS since it came out, but didn't for the same reason you mentioned. If I were still in UT I'd just run on over to a "clean-flix" to check it out!! I have had SO much fun at the SS's and will be attempting the one tomorrow too! Ah…reading your blog is like a breath of fresh & fun air! hehehe

  2. Hand held dysons … I so need one of those…

And I scrap completely out of order to! I’ve got a chart of what I’ve done and what gaps I need to fill. Obsessive, me?

  3. Woohoo! Keep up the movie reviews–I rarely watch movies cause I don’t want to waste my time on a loser movie (and I always fall asleep during them)!!

  4. Thanks for the movie reviews! I’m surprised about Prince Caspian: good to know, so I won’t be disappointed whenever I watch it!
I LOVE the “Britt gives it” tags! 😀

  5. I’m loving your reviews! We have Prince Caspian coming on Netflix, maybe I’ll have the hubby move it down a notch or two. And I was so bummed when I saw LMS was on tv and we had missed it. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. Plus, I love your Dyson LO, it rocks.

  6. No, you are not the only one who scraps out of order! I just can stay focused long enough to do thing in order when it comes to scrapping! Love the movie reviews! Is your template/ticket for sale somewhere? I would LOVE one of my own! We are Netflix junkies!

  7. Great movie reviews! I thought Prince Caspian wasn’t as good as the firt movie either. Also true about the books, BTW. The first two are great, and then the series goes raidly down hill. I’m glad they’re not going to try to force more movies out of them

  8. Great movie reviews! I’ve heard LMS was good, I’ll have to see about watching that. Can’t wait to see what you review next!

  9. LOVE your movie review idea! Sooo cute and clever! And no, you are most definitely NOT the only one who scraps out of order…I pick my pics based on the challenge or the kit…and then my friends who don’t scrap say, “Are you ever gonna print all this and get books made?” LOL I guess I eventually need to go back and make a file with pictures that go in order and just grab them as I go! Someday…

  10. I’m very impressed with your scrapbooking skills. I wish I could be as amazing as you! I’m brand new to digi scrapping and trying to learn how to do everything. I’m wondering what program you use and if you have any tutorials on how to do some of the fun stuff you do? I only know how to resize and layer… 🙂

p.s. I heard of you from a friend of mine, Victoria who knows Marci. 🙂

  11. Dysons – I would never buy anything else after owning one. They are the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned and well worth the big dollars you’ve got to pay for them. And I too do not scrap in any order. I just scrap anything that takes my fancy whether it was current or years old!

  12. Happy Scrap Girl

I totally agree with Sharon about the Dysons – they SUCK!! And I love that! I’ll never buy another brand again 🙂

  13. Great movie reviews! I really didn’t like Prince Caspian the first time I watched it, but did find that I enjoyed it more the second time. I love the song at the end “The Call.” If you still have it, give it a second chance. It isn’t as good as the first, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever seen. I agree that LMS rocks! Though I’ve only ever seen the R rated version. Can’t wait to read more reviews!
